Gobo Gadget Go

I am in love with the studio. I am questioning how I lived before setting foot behind the lights.

Sometimes you feel like dancin'

I found out today that one of my photos was selected for the DCist Exposed Photography Show. You can read more about it on the DCist web site, but this was something I really wanted to be a part of and I am very happy that I will be.

For "Needs Coffee" from "Grilled Cheese with French Fries"

I just saw a quote from The Office on someone's photo on flickr, and it is blog worthy.

"Jim: Any time Michael asks me to do anything, I just tell him that Dwight should do it. Right now, this is just a job. If I advance any higher in this company, then this would be my career. And uh … well, if this were my career, I’d have to throw myself in front of a train. So really, it is a matter of life and death. "

I don't watch that show enough.

Photography school might be more fun than photobooth...might be

My class has jumped head first into lighting, and it is awesome/intimidating. Let's be honest, before this class I knew next to nothing about lighting. I can play with natural light, but besides that I am about as useful as the Orioles infield minus the steroids. We are finally getting into the studio, and this means playing with all sorts of fancy gear. We set the light up for portraits, and well, you get a group of photo students in the studio taking each others pictures it can be interesting. I am completely obsessed with the photo booth application on my computer, but this is like photo booth on crack. And damn, we all looked so much better in good light. I am thinking of creating some portable system that we could all wear that would allow us to be in really beautiful light at all times. Think about it, you would totally wear it.

Pretty Good Year

2007 was a great year for me, and I am sad to see her go. I am taking a nod from Ms. Clarkson's list making and giving you a list of reasons why 2007 rocked.

I got married
I was published for the first time in a long time
Took my first paying gigs
Started a huge career change
Started a new school
Took about 8,000 photos
Traveled a bunch...Atlanta, Boston, NYC, Baltimore (does that count?, I did spend the night), Outer Banks, Maine, Cape Cod, Binghamton, NY, St. Lucia, Barbados, Puerto Rico, and Vienna.

Not a bad year. I did the things I love, with many of the people that I love. I had way more ups than downs, and isn't that all any of us can ask for?

Happy 2008 everyone! I wish you a good one.
